These answers cover the questions we hear most often from Dacor owners in San Francisco and the Bay Area. Read them in any order, since each one stands alone. If yours is not here, the common problems index will point you to a troubleshooting article, or you can send a request through the contact page.
We repair Dacor refrigerators, column freezers, wine and beverage columns, ice makers, ranges, cooktops and rangetops, wall ovens, steam and combi ovens, microwaves and microwave drawers, warming drawers, ventilation hoods and dishwashers. The full list is on the services overview.
We work in San Francisco and across the Bay Area, including the peninsula, Marin, the East Bay and the North Bay counties. The locations directory lists each neighborhood and county. If you are unsure about an address, send a request and mention your ZIP code.
We take requests and schedule visits Monday through Saturday, from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Requests that arrive outside those hours are answered at the start of the next working day.
You send a request, we agree on a visit window, and the technician diagnoses the problem before ordering or removing any part. You then receive a written estimate. Nothing is repaired until you approve it.
Yes. Wine and beverage columns, dispensers and ice makers are part of our regular work, along with column refrigerators and freezers. Mention whether a water line feeds the unit, since that affects what a technician checks.
No. Diagnosis comes first, the written estimate comes second, and the repair begins only after you approve it. If you decline, the appliance stays as it was.
The appliance type, the model number if you can find it, any code shown on the display and a short description of what happened. Mention stairs, parking limits, gate codes or a building manager too, since access in the city can affect timing.
It depends on the appliance. It is usually on the door frame or inside wall of a refrigerator or oven, on the front edge of a drawer, behind hood filters, or on the side of a cooktop chassis. Our guide to finding a Dacor model number lists more locations.
Write it down exactly as displayed, then look it up in the error code library. A code points toward a system, not a finished diagnosis, so the technician still confirms the cause. Avoid repeated resets, and do one controlled power reset at the breaker only if the code library suggests it is reasonable.
Check from the outside only: power at the plug or breaker, a tripped GFCI, the gas valve position, whether a door or drawer closes fully, the gasket, removable filters, vent grilles and drain screens, and the water supply valve. Do not open panels, touch gas fittings or test live circuits.
If you smell gas, leave the home at once, avoid switches and call the gas utility or 911 from outside. If you notice a burning smell or sparks, turn the appliance off at the breaker and stop using it until a technician has looked at it.
Yes. Many Bay Area kitchens still have Millennia, Epicure, Distinctive, Preference and Discovery generation appliances, and we diagnose them along with newer series. The model label tells us what we are working on.
Yes. Built-in installations are our usual setting. A technician may need to slide a unit forward in its cutout, remove trim or reach a service area behind a panel-ready door. We will tell you in advance if that is likely, and we protect the floors and cabinetry around it.
It depends on the fault, the appliance and how it fits your kitchen. Our article on repairing or replacing a Dacor appliance lists the factors, and the written estimate gives you something concrete to weigh before you decide.
Outages can leave electronics in a locked state, trip a breaker or interrupt a cycle. Check the breaker and any GFCI first, then try one controlled reset. If the problem returns, a technician can check the control side and the parts that were running when power dropped.
Yes. We handle wall hoods, island hoods, integrated ventilation and downdraft vents. Ducting, blower access and the placement of a downdraft unit all influence the diagnosis, so tell us how the ventilation is installed when you book.
Intermittent faults are common with latches, sensors, fans and connections. Note when it happens, what the display shows and whether the room or load was different. That record helps the technician find a fault that is not present during the visit.
