Error codeF3 / F-3
ApplianceWall Oven
Why the control shows F3
The electronic oven control beeps and puts F-3 in its digits after sixteen back-to-back temperature conversions all come out as a short circuit at the oven sensor. This is a sensor-circuit alarm for the older ERC ovens: CPS/CPD, ECPS/ECPD, CPTS/CPTD, PCS/PCD, MCS/MCD and ECS/ECD.
Only once you try to cook
The control makes this check just while a cooking operation is being attempted. An oven resting in time of day mode will never display F3, so the code cannot appear while the oven is idle.
What the manual says
Press the cancel key.
If the alarm stays on, have a technician check the sensor and wiring.
Nothing beyond cancel is given for the owner to attempt.
Do not confuse it with
F4, the opposite sensor fault: an open circuit rather than a short.
When cancel does not clear F3, phone (415) 687-5926 about Dacor wall oven repair in San Francisco. Say what you saw on the display and give the oven model number.
Model compatibility: Dacor reuses codes across series and model years, so F3 / F-3 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What this code means
F3 means the ERC read a short circuit in the oven temperature sensor on 16 conversions in a row.
Important safety warning. Do not attempt repairs involving electrical components, gas, water lines, refrigerant or sealed systems. Unplug the appliance if it is safe to reach the outlet, and leave internal diagnostics to a qualified technician.
