Dacor repairSan Francisco & the Bay Area
The RNCT304G is a gas cooktop in the Dacor Renaissance series, and the manual we reference dates to 2015. A cooktop has no oven below it, so everything we examine concerns burners, igniters, valves and the knobs that control them. That makes diagnosis focused, but access matters, since the working parts are under the counter surface.
Burner caps and bases come first because they are the easiest to disturb. Then come the igniters, which can be fouled by boil-overs, and the spark module that feeds them. Valves sit below, and a knob that fails to turn smoothly may point there. Moisture in the burner after cleaning is another cause worth ruling out, since wet ports will not take a spark.
A built-in cooktop sits in a cutout, often over a drawer or a cabinet where pots live. In San Francisco kitchens that space may be packed, and the technician needs it cleared to reach connections. Gas lines, the electrical supply for ignition and any ventilation below must be seen. If a downdraft or hood is installed nearby, its airflow may bend flames sideways, so we look at that too. Our post on a gas cooktop that will not ignite covers the usual sequence.
A smell of gas means going outside, touching no switches, and calling the gas utility or 911. Never touch fittings.
For scope see Dacor cooktop repair; for the wider lineup see Dacor cooktops. A sibling is the RNCT305G. The article on clicking that will not stop may also apply. We diagnose first, estimate in writing and repair only with your approval.
It is listed as a gas cooktop, so the burners are fed by a gas line.
Usually a wet or dirty igniter, or a cap that is not seated. Dry, clean and reseat on a cold unit; if it persists, it needs testing.
Often the technician can work from below. Whether it has to be lifted depends on the fault and the cabinet.
Usually on the side of the cooktop chassis or under the unit. A photo before the visit is helpful.
