Error codeU31 / L31
ApplianceWall Oven
The short story on U31 and L31
Probe 1 is an RTD, and these codes say it is shorted: U31 on the upper or single oven, L31 on the lower. The display shows TEMP SENSOR. A fatal error is logged after 60 seconds of continuous readings past the minimum bounds.
Using the oven meanwhile
Probe 2 acts as the primary probe. Baking and roasting go on, but calibration may shift a little and cleaning is off the table. Results can come out a bit hotter or cooler than usual, and the manual still recommends calling for service.
Manual checklist
Connections at the relay board come first.
Then the probe state at the probe connector.
If needed: secure the connection, swap the probe, swap the harness.
Suspects named: loose connections at the board, a faulty probe, a faulty wire in the harness.
Applies to
Dacor Renaissance EOR and MOR wall ovens and the 27-inch and 30-inch ovens in the Dacor service manual.
Phone (415) 687-5926 from anywhere in the Bay Area with a shorted probe 1. A note on odd cooking results, the U31 or L31 code and the model number make the call quicker. You can also read about Dacor wall oven repair.
Model compatibility: Dacor reuses codes across series and model years, so U31 / L31 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
