About this model

Model overview

The ECS227 is a wall oven in the Classic Wall Ovens series. Availability is not noted. Like other units in Dacor wall ovens, it is normally installed tight against cabinet panels, so heat management matters.

Over-temperature behavior

Some ovens stop heating when they sense that either the cavity or a control board has become too hot. The codes are C-21 as abnormally high internal temperature and C-31 as abnormally high board temperature. If you see one, switch the oven off, let it cool completely, and note the code. Please do not keep restarting it.

Why an oven overheats

  • A sensor reporting low temperatures so the oven keeps adding heat.
  • A relay that does not release when the control asks it to.
  • A cooling fan that is blocked or slow.
  • Airflow around the oven restricted by cabinet changes or stored items.

Each of these produces a similar story from the kitchen, which is why measurement at the oven is needed before any part is named.

What to do tonight

If the oven feels hotter than normal on the outside, smells of burning, or produces sparks, switch it off at the breaker and leave it off. If it simply showed a code and went quiet, you can leave it off until the visit. Meanwhile, check that nothing is stored on or against the oven surround, and keep towels and paper away from it.

Scheduling

Reach us through Dacor wall oven repair and mention the ECS227. See the temperature problems article too. Diagnosis comes first, the estimate is written, and nothing is repaired without your approval.

Planning the visit

Let the oven cool fully before the technician arrives, because a hot cavity delays the inspection. Clear the area in front of the unit and tell us about any recent kitchen work, such as a new countertop or cabinet change nearby, which can alter airflow around a built-in oven.

Our team writes everything down in the estimate, including what was measured, so you can see why a part is recommended.

Keep the doorway and the floor in front of the oven free so the unit can be handled safely.

Kitchens vary, and so does every repair.
